BRIEF undertook the survey of Indian readymade garment manufacturing units for the study titled ‘Strengthening the Textiles and Clothing Sector in South Asia’, on behalf of  Indian Council for Research and International Economic Relations (ICRIER) and supported by the Asian Development Bank and the Ministry of Commerce, India. The objective of survey was to understand the firm strategies that led to improved performance of firms by examining various components of the supply chain and identifying impediments that constrain firm-level performance. The survey was conducted among a total of 125 respondents spread all over India. Special focus was given to readymade garment manufacturing clusters while selecting survey locations.
