The study was the first ever qualitative analysis on the functioning of the CWCs in Chhattisgarh. It presents the existing CWC field realities and provides key insights into the system?s strengths, gaps and challenges. Through these insights, the study aims to contribute to the efforts of policy-makers and child protection practitioners in bringing about well-informed, evidence-based progressive changes within the Juvenile Justice System for children in need of care and protection.
Gram Panchayat level survey for each of the six chosen districts, the sample comprising of 1170 villages (195 villages from each district Conducting door to door survey of the final sample of children in the chosen villages , FGD (Focuses group discussions) with Elected Gram Panchayat Leaders, functionaries, ANMs, Anganwadi workers, School Head Teachers, and local government officials subject to sexually assaulted children, and their care and protection visit Government Health Centres ? Primarily NRHM facilitated health bodies like PHCs & CHCs, Identification of Children who need care and Protection in the chosen sample villages (handicapped, of single parent, of parents incapable of taking care of their children, child labour, children suffering from incurable diseases, child beggars, orphans, sexually assaulted children, children abused by family members/extended family members)
