The objective of the study was to comprehend India?s mobile internet penetration and usage. The motivation for the survey was to understand the barriers to widespread adoption of internet and usage patterns of the lower economic strata of the society, which would enable making pertinent recommendations to increase internet uptake.
PIF had commissioned the study where BRIEF?s research team conducted a survey of 2,000 people in four cities of India, namely, Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta and Bangalore.
Of this, 1200 were mobile internet users and 800 were non mobile internet users. Qualitative Interviews & Focussed group discussions were held to cull out interesting insights and case studies on how internet usage was changing the lives of people across all stratum.
